About this course

Our nationally recognised CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) will equip you with essential skills to provide personalised support and empower individuals living with a disability. In this course, you’ll learn to perform the key responsibilities of a disability support worker, promoting community participation and inclusion, enabling you to make a positive impact and enhance the quality of life for participants and their families.

You’ll have 12 months to complete your studies, working at your own pace with close, guided support from our team every step of the way.
  • Part-time option: Around 10 hours per week for 104 weeks

  • Full-time option: Around 20 hours per week for 52 weeks

  • Work placement: 120 hours. You can organise your own placement, or complete your hours with one of our trusted industry partners.

Police Check – independently sourced by student.
  • Online assessment – You’ll complete short answer questions, long answer questions, scenario-based questions, and multiple-choice questions to show what you know in different ways.
  • Case studies – You’ll complete case study questions that let you apply your knowledge to real-life examples. This gives you a chance to use your skills in a practical context.
  • Portfolio of evidence – During work placement, you’ll collect a portfolio of evidence to show your skills and knowledge. This portfolio will be made up of workplace documents, work samples, notes and meeting minutes.
  • Work placement assessment – During work placement, you’ll be observed and assessed in a real-time working environment or in a simulated environment that reflects workplace conditions.
  • Third party reports – Sometimes your assessor can’t be there to watch you work. Third Party Reports fills that gap by giving your assessor a clear picture of your performance from a supervisor or manager who has observed you in the workplace.

  • Work placement or additional requirements

Selection Criteria

To be eligible for this course, you must meet the following requirements. These requirements help ensure you can safely and effectively participate in training and meet industry expectations.

Evidence of this will be collected as part of your enrolment:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Be willing to complete a National Police Check
  • Successfully complete an LLND (Language, Literacy, Numeracy & Digital) assessment
  • Be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check
  • Be willing to obtain an NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Have access to a computer with internet connection
  • Have access to a camera, microphone, and the ability to record and upload roleplays/simulations

All required checks and screenings are linked to work placement and must be completed before placement can commence.

What You Need to Do

To move forward with your enrolment, you’ll need to complete the following:

  • Review your course information
    Read all documents provided via email or portal
  • Submit your Enrolment Agreement
    Complete your online enrolment form
  • Provide your USI and ID
    Upload valid photo identification and your USI
  • Complete your suitability call
    Speak with our Student Services team to confirm readiness

    • Confirm the course aligns with your goals

If needed, we can provide information in alternative formats (e.g. Easy English or translated versions).

Getting You Ready to Start

Once your enrolment is finalised, you’ll receive access to your learning portal and key course information, including:

  • Units of competency
  • Assessment requirements
  • Delivery structure
  • Trainer and support contacts

Before commencing your units, you’ll complete a short online LLND (Language, Literacy, Numeracy & Digital) assessment.

This helps us understand your current skill level and ensure you’re ready for the course requirements.

If we identify any concerns, we will:

  • Discuss this with you
  • Recommend appropriate support or alternative pathways
  • Document outcomes to ensure transparency and compliance

Once completed, you’ll be ready to begin progressing through your course with the right support in place.

Confirmation & Access

After your enrolment is finalised, you’ll receive your Welcome Email and login details within one business hour, so you can access your course and get started.

We’ll also arrange a Welcome/Orientation call with a member of our Student Services team. This is an opportunity to:

  • Walk through key information about your course
  • Introduce the support services available to you
  • Answer any questions you may have early on
